Vhi Group Technology have a number of full time permanent vacancies for the role of Data Analyst based in Dublin or Kilkenny on a hybrid basis. We are looking for Data Analysts with a knowledge of business analysis, databases, data warehousing, data exploration and discovery, and data reporting to join our Data Team. This is a role which will require expertise in the full software development lifecycle from concept, analysis and design through to testing and deployment. It involves the methodical investigation, analysis, review, documentation and implementation of business change. The Data Analyst will carry out requirements elicitation, requirements definition and support data model design for improving data processes, systems and business intelligence capability as part of a team that works on business intelligence applications, the Enterprise Data Warehouse and the Operational Data Store for on-prem and cloud data. Role purpose- Investigate business situations where there is complexity and ambiguity, adopting a holistic view to identify and analyse problems and opportunities, and identifies recommendations for improvements.
- Use agreed standards and techniques to investigate, analyse and document business situations.
- Establish requirements baselines, obtains formal agreement to requirements, and ensures traceability to source.
- Facilitate input from stakeholders, provides constructive challenge and enables effective prioritisation of requirements.
- Demonstrate effective communication skills when engaging on issues with colleagues and suppliers. Effectively apply digital skills and explores these capabilities for their role.
- Follow standard techniques to investigate and analyse the nature and impact of changes to operational activities. Contribute to the recommendations for change management plans and actions, supports implementation and engages with stakeholders.
- Support option identification and feasibility assessment. Supports the identification of tangible costs and benefits.
- Use appropriate methods and takes a systematic approach to developing, maintaining, controlling and distributing quality and standards. Makes technical changes to and controls the updates and distribution of quality standards, particularly relating to data.
- Provide support on the use of existing methods and tools. Creates and updates relevant and supporting documentation.
- Assist with the creation of regular business intelligence reports using standard tools and supports data preparation from existing sources.
Key criteriaEducation and experience - Relevant third level qualification and/or business analyst professional qualification
- Successful track record as data analyst with minimum 3 plus years’ experience
- Proven ability to write simple SQL statements, navigate databases and use queries during analysis and design phase.
- Demonstrated knowledge of database concepts (table structures and dependences, Reference Data) and visualisation/ reporting tools, examples. Tableau, MicroStrategy.
- Knowledge of data classification and data cataloging tools desirable.
- Have extensive experience of project delivery methods (Agile/Waterfall SDLC) to provide business and technical solutions.
- Proven experience of roles in process change and IT change projects involving feasibility studies, business analysis, requirements definition, implementation and business readiness.
- Experience working in a highly regulated environment with an understanding of data protection regulations of data compliance requirements.
- Experience working on AWS or Azure with a focus on data including structured, semi-structured and unstructured data is desirable
- Experience working with healthcare data is a plus
